Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Temp BTC (the "Service") is designed to collect as little data as possible. There are no user accounts, and all wallet logic — address generation, key storage, and transaction signing — runs entirely in your browser. This policy explains the little data that does exist and where it goes.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not operate a backend server for the Service, so we do not ourselves collect, receive, or store your name, email address, private keys, or any other personal information. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking technology. We do use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage of the Service — see Section 5.
3. Information Stored on Your Device
When you generate an address, your Bitcoin address and an AES-GCM-encrypted copy of the corresponding private key are saved to your browser's local storage so the wallet can be restored the next time you visit. This data never leaves your device or gets transmitted to us — it stays entirely local. The encryption key is derived from a value built into the app itself rather than anything private to you, so it should be treated as obfuscation against casual inspection of storage, not as strong protection on a compromised or shared device. Clearing your browser's site data, switching browsers, or using a different device will make that locally-stored wallet inaccessible.
4. Third-Party Services
To check balances, show deposit history, estimate fees, and broadcast transactions, your browser communicates directly with the third-party mempool.space API. Those requests — which include the Bitcoin address you're viewing and, when sending, the signed transaction — go straight from your browser to mempool.space; they do not pass through us, and we never see them. mempool.space will be able to see your IP address and the addresses or transactions you query, subject to its own privacy practices, which we do not control.
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Service — for example, which pages are viewed and in what browser. Your browser sends Google Analytics your IP address and standard technical information (such as browser type, device type, and referring page) directly; the Service never sends Google Analytics your Bitcoin address, private key, balance, or any transaction data, since that information never passes through it. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or with any browser extension or setting that blocks third-party analytics scripts.
6. Hosting and Infrastructure
The Service is served as a static site through a content delivery network. As with any website, our hosting and CDN provider may process standard technical request data (such as IP address, user agent, and timestamp) as an inherent part of delivering the page to your browser. We do not layer any additional logging, analytics, or tracking on top of this.
7. Cookies and Tracking
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish visitors and sessions for aggregate usage statistics. Other than this, the Service does not use cookies, and does not employ any advertising or cross-site tracking technology.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect any information from children, consistent with the fact that we do not collect personal information from any user.
9. Data Security
Because private keys never leave your browser, the security of your wallet depends primarily on the security of your own device and browser. Keep your device free of malware, and back up your private key somewhere safe — we have no server-side copy to recover it from if it's lost.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
